Questions and Answers to Your Life Problems
...well maybe not all of them.

Q: Am I too old to start martial arts?
A:  Definitely not! You start slow, at your own pace and before you know it you’ll be more flexible and have better coordination.

Q: What age do my children need to be to start classes?
A: My TKD classes ar suitable for children ages 7+. At this age most children have the coordination and attention span that is needed for my classes.

Q: I see that classes already started.  Is it too late to join?
A: It’s never too late join.  We are always accepting new students.

Q: Do I have to buy a uniform?
A: At first you'll just wear comfortable clothing but to stand in your proper rank in line you will need a uniform ($20)

Q: Do I need any experience?
A: Nope, none at all. If you can walk then you can do Taekwon-Do.  Everyone is a beginner at some point so don’t worry about how others do.   And most importantly, we're all here to have fun and improve ourselves.

Q: Am I going to get hurt?
A: We will not be doing any take-downs or contact sparring in normal "All Belts Class". The most common injury is sore muscles from over pushing yourself and are common during your first week of class if you have not been in a fitness routine. The sparring classes are not mandatory, they are only for those who wish to take part. Sparring class is a fun tag game in which you tag each others padded target areas with light kicks and punches using constant control. I allow light contact only.

Q: What if I haven't worked out in a long time? Will I be able to keep up?
A: Yes definitely.  One of the great things about class is that you go at your own pace. Each technique is demonstrated step by step every time we practice it, so there is never a bad time to join.

Q: What are the Karate classes like?
A: Classes are 1 hour long. After lining up by rank we start with a brief warm up and stretching.  Then we work on kicks, blocks, and strikes (each technique is always demonstrated).  Near the end of class we may work on self defense or sparring.  And we always work on forms (a set of choreographed moves).

Q: Will it be a problem if I miss class?
A:  No.  We review each technique before we do it in every class, but your progress will improve by practicing what you’ve learned at least twice a week. And remember, you only pay for the classes you attend, at the classes you attend.

Q: What do the belts mean and do I have to test?
A: The belt colors represent a student’s level of training (white belts have little training and black belts have done many years of training.) There are 10 belts before a black belt. The test fee is $20 and includes your new belt, certificate, and a booklet about your new rank. Testing is a necessary part of progressing to the next level of training, but you will only be tested when the instructor knows you are ready. We promote a friendly, positive, and rewarding environment for learning.
